Our Story
A Story That Begins in 1914
In 1914, Pascual Rojas Julón was born. Years later, he migrated in search of work to the village of Perlamayo, in Cutervo, Cajamarca. There, his destiny changed: he met Don Narcizo Vásquez Pérez, who gave him the opportunity to work the land.
That beginning—humble and demanding—was more than just work. It marked the start of a family tradition that, generation after generation, learned to understand the land, respect the rhythm of coffee, and preserve an origin that today stands as a real and reliable proposition for buyers.
Coffee Crafted by Hand
Early coffee farming was natural and traditional: harvesting ripe cherries, sun-drying on patios (flattened ground), and hulling in wooden mortars using a pestle—purely by manual force.
The lots were located 1–2 hours from the home. To sell green coffee, the journey was made on horses and mules toward Bellavista (Jaén): a three-day trek, crossing the Chamaya River by canoe (with the animals swimming across).
That effort built a reputation: coffee became the most valuable product and the most sought-after in regions where it was not grown.
Three Generations on the Same Land
From Pascual and Matea were born Paulino Rojas Vásquez and Eloisa Rojas Vásquez. Eloisa later formed a family with Juan Pérez Mego, and one of their sons, Victoriano Pérez Rojas, was raised by his grandparents, who taught him coffee farming from an early age.
With Victoriano and Hilda Berónica Altamirano Paz, a new family stage began. Their eldest son, Carlos Enrique Pérez Altamirano, represents the third generation of coffee growers on the same land, acquired and consolidated through inheritance.
In coffee, this matters: consistency does not depend only on technique; it depends on a culture of production.
